Have you ever fancied running your own golf resort, complete with water-park, hotel and 18-hole tournament course? How about being a pro-golfer with all the skills needed to win a major title? Actually, it doesn't matter what your answer to those questions is: this is a great game and should appeal to anyone who likes fun, amusing and addictive games. SimGolf consists of two major parts: the construction and management of your golf course and resort; and actually playing rounds, matches and tournaments.
As soon as you complete work on your first hole, golfers will start to appear and will begin playing. Making a hole too easy will put golfers off - but so will making it too difficult. This is important because the happiness level for your entire resort will affect various aspects of the storyline - such as wealthy heiresses donating landmarks which in turn raise happiness levels! And the happier golfers are, the more money they're willing to spend. As your course develops, you need to keep a close eye on what characters are saying as they interact with it and each other. People getting tired need a bench to sit on whereas thirsty golfers are happy to pay for drinks from the snack bar.
Marshals need to be hired to keep golfers moving and groundskeepers are a must if you want to avoid weeds overrunning your course. All of these aspects require your management, which makes the game very immersive indeed. When your course is ready, you can start to play matches and host tournaments. The gameplay for the actual golf part of the game is fairly simplistic but very good fun.
At first, the five or six shots you can choose from seem rather limited but the drive length, terrain and topography work together to guarantee that no hole should be the same. If you pull off a particularly good shot, your skill points increase: poor play will result in just the opposite. SimGolf's graphics aren't much to write home about but then, this game is five years old. Unfortunately, the game locks you into a rather poor 800x600 resolution. Other elements of the gameplay (like downloadable courses, pro players and more) mean that despite its age, SimGolf still has great longevity. In all, this is a classic game packed with fun and humour. Even if you're not a big fan of sims or golf you should give it a go.

Hi, This seems to be a fairly common issue. Downloaded demos, work just fine, but those of us that own the actual game CD and have the CD code can not seem to play. The install goes fine, and everything installs. The only error message I ever got was one saying I needed Administrator rights, so I went into the properties and ran it as an Administrator.nothing happens. No error, no freeze, & no hint that it might try to start up. So, I manually set it back and tried it in compatibility for: XP service pack 2, XP service pack 3 & Windows 7. Same result all 3 times.
After that I tried your troubleshooter but it seems it just attempted to do everything I already did. Any help or suggestions?
Same problem here.I can install the program fine, but when I try to run it nothing happens. The troubleshooter said to run in compatibility mode and run as administrator.
Done all those things.Tried every version of windows in compatibility mode and nothing. This totally sucks, and is really pathetic.I get that technology changes, but this game is from 2002 and ran on Windows XP, how complicated can a game from that era really be?
If you are telling me that Microsoft can't solve this very annoying problem, then we are talking about utter and complete oversight in the creation of Windows 10. But that is why I didn't major in Computer Science.none of those dudes had common sense. I guess I can't believe that Microsoft wouldn't be able to fix this in their sleep. Quit blaming the developer, their game worked on windows before, Windows 10 just forgot that there is actually classic software out there that is worth keeping compatible. The following worked for me: If you are using windows 64bit you need the 64 bit version of the secdrv.sys file. The one included on the simgolf CD is the 32 bit version and you will get errors I picked up the 64 bit version from from opendll. Put it in your windows system32 drivers Sign the file using the DSEO13B from NGOHQ.
Reboot windows while holding shift down to enter the safemode boot up. This will send you to a screen which gives you several options. I selected the troubleshoot -Advanced-Startup settings and chose #7 which is to disable driver signature enforcement. Once it reboots you should then be able to run your game. At this point i believe that if you try to use the use command prompt with administrator privilages and type SC START SECDRV.it will already be running.
After you are done playing just reboot out of safemode and secdrv shouldn't be able to load again until you repeat the safemode process. Theoretically this should work.
